Have you tried to delete the accounts using other browsers? If not yet, please do so and see if you would still get the error code. If you received the same error, please provide us the email address of the parent in the private message area below for further investigation. I also provide the steps below on how to remove a child account.

1. Login the parent account at
https://fss.live.com .
2. In the Family Summary , click Remove a family member .
3. Check the old accounts with issue and click Remove .

I am having this same problem and have tried all the steps here and on some other parts of the forums. I think my problem is the email address that was used was closed and somehow the system cannot determine who the user is to delete. Any ways to get around this?

I have the same problem with a child account. It is related to the email address. The email address was not used for some time and was deactivated by Microsoft. It appears to be reallocated to another user.

How do we fix this?

There are two children on our Family Safety account that have duplicate profiles. I created new profiles for them last year when I was having trouble accessing their existing accounts. Now, I have been unable to delete the old accounts. It tells me to try later, but I've tried several times over the last year and still cannot delete them. I get the same error code every time:

 Sorry, the service isn't available right now. Please try again later. Error code = 16100.

I would appreciate it if someone could manually delete them for me.

I am having this exact same problem.  Has anyone solved this?  Tried all steps outlined above.  Unable to access my sons' email account.  Unable to recreate the email account after nearly a year.  Family Safety unresponsive and Hotmail not helpful.

Same here.  Two kids from a previous marriage that are still tied to my Live account for Family safety.  Doesn't that put me in some (possibly legal) conundrum?  This has gone on for over a year (based on the above thread), any solution?  Is anyone even trying to solve it?  Please don't respond with telling me to close my Microsoft account, create a new one, and link it to my remaining family members....
